Lerik Map Poster & Print
Lerik is the administrative centre of Lerik District in southern Azerbaijan, high in the Talysh Mountains near the border with Iran. The terrain is steep and folded. On a map the town is a compact settlement whose roads wind along the contours rather than running straight, with villages scattered across the ridges and valleys around it.
The district is best known for the long lives of its inhabitants, and Lerik has a museum dedicated to the region's long-lived people. The landscape around it mixes forested slopes, pastures and terraced fields. It is a very different Azerbaijan from the flat Caspian coast, which lies a short drive to the east.
A Lerik map poster is more about line than density. Instead of a tight grid, it shows roads that loop and switch back, lanes branching off to hamlets and wide open spaces where the mountains leave no room to build. In black and white the result looks closer to a contour drawing than a city plan.

The town's streets spread across uneven ground and follow the lie of the land. As a result, the built-up area has an irregular, organic outline rather than a neat rectangle.
Talysh countryside
