Schwalmtal Map Poster & Print
Schwalmtal lies in the Lower Rhine region of North Rhine-Westphalia, close to the border with the Netherlands. It was formed in 1970 from the former municipalities of Waldniel and Amern, and from above it still shows two main centres linked by roads through farmland, woods and small settlements rather than a single compact town.
The municipality takes its name from the Schwalm, a small river that flows through the area towards the Meuse. Its valley, with meadows, woodland and ponds, forms part of the cross-border Maas-Schwalm-Nette nature park, which gives much of the surrounding map a soft, green character.
A Schwalmtal map poster captures this spread-out structure: the separate cores of Waldniel and Amern, the network of country roads between them and the winding line of the river valley. It is a quiet, detailed composition that reflects the rural character of the Lower Rhine.
