Songgang Map Poster & Print
Songgang is a subdistrict of Bao'an in northern Shenzhen, close to the boundary with Dongguan. It is part of the industrial belt that grew up in the Pearl River Delta in the decades after Shenzhen became a special economic zone. On the map, the area is a tightly packed mix of factory compounds, worker housing, urban villages and newer residential towers.
The street pattern shows how quickly the area developed. Large rectangular industrial plots sit beside tangled lanes that follow older village boundaries. Main roads and expressways run through, and low green hills and reservoirs break up the urban fabric in places.
A Songgang map poster reduces all this to a dense web of lines, with the reservoirs and green hills as open spaces within it. It is a portrait of the kind of place that made Shenzhen's growth possible. For people who have worked or lived in Bao'an, it can be a very personal map.

Urban villages
Dense clusters of narrow lanes mark older settlements that were absorbed into the city. They form a finer, more irregular texture.
Hills and reservoirs
Pockets of green hills and water interrupt the built-up area. They create open spaces in an otherwise crowded composition.
