Akalkuva, often spelled Akkalkuwa, is a town in Nandurbar district in the far north-west of Maharashtra, close to the border with Gujarat. The Satpura range rises to the north, and the town sits where the hill country opens into farmland. On a map, the settlement is compact and gathered around its main roads, with fields beyond.
The town is widely known for a large Islamic seminary, Jamia Islamia Ishaatul Uloom, whose campus appears as a distinct cluster of buildings and courtyards.
