As Samū‘ sits in the hills south of Hebron, where the West Bank starts to give way to drier country toward the Negev. From above, the town has no strict grid. Its streets follow the contours of the slopes, bending around ridges and dropping into shallow wadis, so the road pattern reads almost like a topographic sketch.
The older core is compact and dense, with short, irregular lanes packed tightly together. Newer housing spreads outward along the roads that link the town to its neighbours, leaving open ground between the built-up fingers. Terraced fields and olive plots fill much of that space.
