Bislig lies on the eastern coast of Mindanao in Surigao del Sur, facing Bislig Bay and the Pacific beyond. For decades Bislig was known as the home of a large pulp and paper mill, one of the biggest industrial operations in the Philippines, which shaped the town's growth before it closed.
