Biysk Map Poster & Print
Biysk lies on the Biya River in Altai Krai, in southern Siberia, where the flat steppe begins to rise toward the Altai Mountains. On a map the city stretches along both banks of the river, with the older centre on the right bank and newer districts spreading across the flatland. Downstream, the Biya meets the Katun, and together they form the Ob, one of the great rivers of Siberia.
The town was founded in 1709 as a fortress on the orders of Peter the Great, to guard Russia's frontier in southern Siberia. Today it is best known as the starting point of the Chuysky Trakt, the road that leads south through the Altai Mountains toward Mongolia. Biysk also holds the status of a science city, with research and industry linked to chemistry.
A Biysk map poster shows a city shaped by its river: bridges crossing the Biya, streets running parallel to its banks, and islands and meanders scattered along the water. Beyond the built-up area, open land and forest fill the frame, a reminder of how much space surrounds even a large Siberian town.

Historic centre
The older streets near the river follow a more regular grid, a compact core that stands out against the looser suburban areas further from the water.
River islands
Sandbars and islands along the Biya appear as small shapes in the water, adding fine detail to the map and hinting at how the river shifts with the seasons.
