Brampton lies north-west of Toronto in the Region of Peel, and its map still follows the logic of rural Ontario's survey lines. The main roads trace the nineteenth-century concession grid, running in long straight lines at regular intervals. The land between them is filled with curving residential streets, crescents and cul-de-sacs typical of post-war and modern suburbs.
The valleys of Etobicoke Creek and the Credit River cut across this pattern on their way south towards Lake Ontario.
