Bron sits directly east of Lyon on the flat plain that stretches away from the Rhône, and on a map it reads as a continuation of the city rather than a separate town. Residential streets spread in irregular blocks, broken by the heavy lines of motorways and the eastern ring road that separate it from its neighbours and carry traffic out toward the Alps.
Two large open shapes define its outline. To the south, the Parc de Parilly fills a broad rectangle of lawns and woodland paths. To the east, the runway of Lyon-Bron airport cuts a clean straight line through the grid. It was once the city's main airfield and now serves business and light aviation.
