Fontem sits in the Lebialem highlands of Cameroon's South-West Region, where the land rises in folds of green ridges and narrow valleys. From above, the settlement doesn't form a grid. The town is widely known for its link with the Focolare Movement, which arrived in the 1960s and helped establish a hospital and schools that still shape local life.
