Isahaya Map Poster & Print
Isahaya occupies a narrow isthmus in Nagasaki Prefecture, where the Shimabara and Nagasaki peninsulas join the rest of Kyushu. Unusually, the city touches three different bodies of water: Ōmura Bay to the north, Tachibana Bay to the south and the Ariake Sea to the east. That position makes it a natural crossroads for roads and railways.
The most striking line on its map is the sea wall across Isahaya Bay, closed in 1997 as part of a land reclamation project. Its seven-kilometre straight edge encloses reclaimed farmland and a freshwater reservoir, and the project is still the subject of a long-running debate. In the centre, the Honmyō River flows through town, and the old stone Megane-bashi bridge now stands in Isahaya Park.
An Isahaya map poster shows a city defined by its edges: coastlines on three sides, the straight engineered line of the dike, and the river winding through the streets. Hills rise around the built-up area, so the composition moves from dense lanes to open water and green slopes in every direction. It is a map that explains the city's geography at a glance.

Three coastlines
Ōmura Bay, Tachibana Bay and the Ariake Sea all reach the city, framing it with water on several sides and giving the poster a distinctive silhouette.
Honmyō River
The river winds through the city centre toward the bay. An old stone arch bridge that once crossed it now stands preserved in Isahaya Park.

Isahaya is a place people pass through on the way to Nagasaki, Unzen or Sasebo, but for residents it is the centre of their world. A personalised title, a family name or a special date turns the map into a gift that speaks of home.
The coastlines stand out well in Blueprint and Sand, and Classic black & white, Noir and Paper suit other interiors. Download the $9 HD files in six print sizes without a watermark, or order a matte printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
