Jakobstad, or Pietarsaari in Finnish, is a coastal town in Ostrobothnia on the Gulf of Bothnia. Most of its residents speak Swedish as their first language. The town was founded in 1652 by Ebba Brahe and named after her late husband, the military commander Jacob De la Gardie.
