Jāmuria sits in the Paschim Bardhaman district of West Bengal, north of Asansol, on the Raniganj coalfield. The town has no single tight centre. From above it is a loose cluster of built-up patches: older villages, colliery settlements and newer housing, joined by roads that follow the ground rather than a plan.
