Kousséri lies in Cameroon's Far North Region, on the western bank of the Logone River. N'Djamena, the capital of Chad, sits just across the water. A bridge links the two cities, and on a map they appear almost as one urban area, divided only by the river and the border. The confluence of the Logone and the Chari lies just to the north.
The town's streets spread across flat, low ground shaped by seasonal flooding. On the map the river's meanders, sandbanks and floodplains form wide, soft shapes.
