La Molina lies in the eastern Pyrenees of Catalonia, on the southern edge of the Cerdanya, a wide, flat-bottomed valley that straddles the border with France. The resort is spread out rather than concentrated, with chalets, hotels and apartment blocks scattered across wooded slopes below the ski area.
