Lilongwe Map Poster & Print
Lilongwe became Malawi's capital in 1975, replacing Zomba, and was planned from the start as a low-density garden city. Instead of a single dense core, the map shows separate districts divided into numbered Areas, linked by broad roads and separated by wide stretches of green. The Old Town, with its markets and older commercial streets, lies apart from Capital Hill and the government quarter to the north.
The Lilongwe River runs between these two centres, and its wooded corridor is one of the strongest lines on a Lilongwe map poster.
