Curving cul-de-sacs
Residential streets bend and branch into dead ends and loops, a pattern typical of postwar suburbs. On paper it forms a delicate, almost botanical texture.

Lincolnia Map Poster & Print
Lincolnia is an unincorporated community in Fairfax County, Virginia, just west of Alexandria and within easy reach of Washington, D.C. It has no traditional downtown. From above, it reads as a suburb of looping streets, cul-de-sacs and garden apartments, cut through by a few large roads that carry traffic toward the capital.
The contrast is what makes the map interesting. Interstate 395 and other arterial roads run in firm, straight lines, while the residential streets between them curve and branch, often ending in small turning circles. Patches of wooded parkland and stream valleys add open space throughout.
A Lincolnia map poster shows this typical, but rarely portrayed, American suburban pattern with clarity. The layout has a gentle, organic rhythm, and at a local scale the familiar names of streets and cul-de-sacs become personal landmarks for anyone who has lived there.

Stream valleys
Wooded stream valleys and small parks wind between neighbourhoods, leaving open spaces that break up the street network and give the map room to breathe.
