The river loop
The Liu River bends into a near-closed horseshoe around the old centre. It is the defining feature of the city's shape and the focal point of the poster.

Liuzhou Map Poster & Print
Liuzhou is one of the most distinctive city shapes in China. The Liu River winds through the centre in a series of tight meanders. The old town sits on a peninsula almost enclosed by one pronounced U-shaped loop. Many bridges cross the river in quick succession, so the urban area reads as several districts joined across the water.
Around the city, isolated karst hills rise straight up from the flat land. This is the typical landscape of Guangxi, and several of the hills are set within parks. Liuzhou is an industrial centre known for car manufacturing. It is also the home of luosifen, the river-snail rice noodle soup that has become famous across China.
A Liuzhou map poster makes the most of this looping river. The water curves back on itself, the streets fill the peninsulas, and the bridges repeat across the loops. Rounded hills leave blank islands within the built-up area. The result is an unusually sculptural composition that is instantly recognisable even without labels.

Many bridges
Bridges cross the meanders at short intervals, forming a series of lines across the water. Together they tie the peninsulas into one continuous city.
Karst hills
Steep limestone hills rise from the flat ground within and around the city. They appear as small, irregular open areas among the streets.
