Louisville Map Poster & Print
Louisville grew up at the Falls of the Ohio, the only major natural obstacle on the river, where boats once had to stop and unload. On the map the Ohio curves along the city's northern and western edges, and downtown sits in a tight grid by the water. The city spreads south and east through neighbourhoods framed by the I-264 and I-265 loops.
The city is famous for the Kentucky Derby, run each May at Churchill Downs since 1875, and as the hometown of Muhammad Ali. It is also a centre of bourbon distilling and home to a large UPS air hub. Frederick Law Olmsted designed its park system, which links large parks by tree-lined parkways.
A Louisville map poster captures a city with an unusually clear structure: the curve of the river, the bridges to Indiana, the dense grid of Old Louisville, and the broad green spaces of Cherokee, Iroquois and Shawnee parks linked by parkways. It is a well-organised, quietly handsome map that rewards a close look.

Big Four Bridge
This former railway bridge, now a path for walkers and cyclists, crosses the Ohio from Waterfront Park to Jeffersonville. It is one of several bridges linking Louisville with Indiana.
Olmsted parks
Cherokee, Iroquois and Shawnee parks, connected by parkways designed by Olmsted's firm, form large green shapes in the east, south and west of the city.

Louisville is a city of neighbourhood pride, from the Highlands to Germantown and Old Louisville, and many people keep it with them long after moving away. A map of its streets and river makes a thoughtful gift for Derby fans, former students and families.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a neighbourhood and a Derby year, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files in six sizes cost $9, and printed posters can come with a wooden frame.
