Makurazaki Map Poster & Print
Makurazaki lies on the southwestern coast of the Satsuma Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture. The town faces the East China Sea, and its map is shaped by the harbour: breakwaters, quays and fish-processing buildings along the shore, with streets climbing gently inland toward green hills.
The town is best known for bonito. Its port has long been a base for bonito fishing, and it is one of the leading producers of katsuobushi, the dried and smoked bonito used as the foundation of Japanese dashi stock. Makurazaki is also the terminus of the JR Ibusuki Makurazaki Line, which runs along the peninsula from Kagoshima.
A Makurazaki map poster captures the meeting of sea and town in a clear way. The harbour's angular breakwaters stand out against the soft coastline, the rail line ends near the centre, and hills frame everything from behind. In black and white, the port's geometry becomes the main subject of the print.

End of the line
The JR Ibusuki Makurazaki Line ends here, and the railway's final stretch into town is one of the clearer lines on the map.
