The downtown sits close to the water, with streets climbing the slopes on either side and bridges tying the two banks together. It belongs to a close cluster of towns that also includes Stellarton, Trenton and Westville.
Scottish settlers gave the town its name, and the county's identity remains closely tied to that heritage.
