Ormond Beach sits on Florida's Atlantic coast just north of Daytona Beach, and water shapes its map. The Halifax River, part of the Intracoastal Waterway, runs north to south and divides the town in two. On the wider mainland side are neighbourhoods and shopping roads. On the narrow barrier island, streets run in short rungs between the river and the ocean.
Granada Boulevard is the main east–west axis. It crosses the river on a bridge and ends at the beach. To the north, the Tomoka River and the state park around it break up the grid with marsh and tidal channels.
