Oss lies in the northeast of North Brabant, on the flat land south of the river Maas. It is known as a birthplace of Dutch industry. Margarine makers Jurgens and Van den Bergh, whose companies later became part of Unilever, started here, and the town also became home to the pharmaceutical company Organon.
