Pānakkudi is a town in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, close to the border with Kanyakumari district and only a short distance from the southern tip of the subcontinent. It sits on open plain at the foot of the Mahendragiri hills, among the final ridges of the Western Ghats, which rise sharply to the west and give the map a strong natural boundary.
The town has a compact centre of close-set streets, grown around the main road that runs through the area between Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari.
