Piura and Castilla
The river divides the city into two municipalities, Piura on one bank and Castilla on the other, so the poster shows two grids facing each other across the water.

Piura Map Poster & Print
Piura sits on the flat, dry coastal plain of northern Peru, where the Piura River crosses the Sechura Desert on its way to the Pacific. The river splits the urban area in two, with Piura proper on the western bank and Castilla on the east, joined by a series of bridges. Both sides spread out in a regular grid of blocks that thins into sand and farmland.
The city traces its roots to San Miguel de Piura, founded by Francisco Pizarro in 1532. It is often called the first Spanish city in South America, though it moved several times before settling where it is now. The region is known for cotton, mangoes and a hot, sunny climate, and for severe floods when El Niño brings heavy rain.
A Piura map poster shows the simple logic of a colonial grid meeting a desert river. The Plaza de Armas and the old centre sit close to the western bank, while newer districts spread out in every direction. The winding riverbed, which dries out along long stretches in some years, runs through the middle like a single brushstroke.

Bridges across the river
Several road bridges connect the two banks. They are drawn as short straight lines across the riverbed and give the centre of the map a clear rhythm.
Grid of the old centre
Around the Plaza de Armas, the historic centre follows a regular colonial grid of square blocks, the pattern the rest of the city has grown out of.

Piura has a proud regional identity, and many piuranos in Lima, Spain or the United States stay closely tied to it. A map of the city is an elegant reminder of home, with the river and the plaza at its heart.
Write your own title and subtitle, perhaps a family name or your graduation year, and keep or adjust the coordinates line. Choose from five styles: Sand suits the desert setting, while Classic black & white keeps things crisp. The HD files cost $9.
