Ra'anana lies on the Sharon plain in central Israel, a few kilometres inland from the Mediterranean, between Kfar Saba and Herzliya. It was founded in 1922 by a group of Jewish settlers from New York as an agricultural colony, and citrus groves once surrounded the first houses. Today it is a residential city that has kept a lower, greener profile than many of its neighbours.
From above, the city is organised around Ahuza Street, the long central axis running east to west.
