Rānpur is a town in Botad district in Gujarat, on the Saurashtra peninsula. Seen from above, it is a close knot of old lanes by a river. Newer streets spread out from that knot across very flat land, and the surrounding countryside is divided into cultivated fields crossed by village roads.
The town has a place in Gujarati literary history. The poet and writer Jhaverchand Meghani was closely associated with Rānpur, where he worked on the Saurashtra newspaper during the independence era.
