Shoham is a young town in central Israel, founded in the 1990s on low hills at the edge of the coastal plain, a few kilometres east of Ben Gurion Airport. Shoham takes its name from a Hebrew word for a precious stone, often translated as onyx, one of the stones of the biblical High Priest's breastplate.
