The isthmus
The old town fills a slender neck of land between two shores. On the poster it shows as a tight band of streets with water on both sides.

Sinop Map Poster & Print
Sinop sits on one of the most striking coastal sites on the Black Sea. The old city covers a narrow isthmus that links the mainland to the Boztepe peninsula, so on a map the town is squeezed between two bodies of water. There is a sheltered harbour on one side and the open sea on the other.
That natural harbour made Sinop an important port from ancient times, when it was founded as a Greek colony. It is known as the birthplace of the philosopher Diogenes the Cynic. The historic fortress walls and the old Sinop prison, now a museum, are still part of the town's identity. The peninsula nearby reaches the northernmost point of Turkey.
A Sinop map poster brings out that unusual geography. The streets are packed into the isthmus, the coastline curves around the peninsula, and the sea surrounds the city on almost every side. Few towns make such a clear shape from above.

Boztepe peninsula
The rounded peninsula rises beyond the city and pushes out into the Black Sea. Its shape is instantly recognisable on the map.
Twin harbours
The sheltered southern harbour and the open northern shore give the city two quite different waterfronts, and they explain much of Sinop's long maritime past.
