The Tarauacá River loops back and forth in wide bends. On the print these curves dominate the composition and frame the town on its bank.

Tarauacá Map Poster & Print
Tarauacá is in the state of Acre in western Brazil, deep in the Amazon basin. The town sits on the Tarauacá River, which winds through the forest in wide meanders. On a map, the town fills a stretch of dry ground along the bank, with a compact grid of streets giving way quickly to forest and to the river's looping channel.
For much of the town's history, the river was the main route in and out, while today the BR-364 highway also connects it with the rest of Acre. Tarauacá is well known in Brazil for growing unusually large pineapples, which are celebrated at a local festival. It is a detail that says a lot about how the town sits within its farming and forest landscape.
A Tarauacá map poster shows a place most people will only ever see from above. The river bends are the most striking part of the drawing, with smooth curves that no planner could design. The small grid on the bank looks almost fragile against them, which makes this a strong print for anyone connected to the town or to Amazonia.

Tarauacá is remote, and people who come from here or have worked here often live far away now. A map of the river and the town is a quiet link to that place. It also suits anyone drawn to the shapes that rivers make in the Amazon.
