Tayshet is a town in the west of Irkutsk Oblast, in southern Siberia, and one of the region's key railway junctions. It stands on the Trans-Siberian Railway, and the Baikal–Amur Mainline begins here, heading north-east toward the Lena and eventually the Pacific coast.
