Tinley Park stretches across flat former prairie in Chicago's southwest suburbs, mainly in Cook County with a portion in Will County. From above, it follows the pattern of the Midwest township grid. The Metra Rock Island line crosses the village diagonally toward downtown Chicago, and Tinley Park's historic core grew up around its stations.
