Tondabayashi lies in the southeast of Osaka Prefecture, on terraces rising from the Ishikawa River toward the Kongō mountains. The river flows north through the city. At its heart is Tondabayashi Jinaimachi, a temple town founded in the sixteenth century around the Kōshō-ji Betsuin temple.
