Torrox is in the Axarquía, the eastern part of the province of Málaga, and has two distinct halves. Torrox pueblo is the old village on a hill a few kilometres inland, with narrow streets packed closely around its church. Torrox Costa is the newer resort area along the Mediterranean shore, with apartment blocks, a beach promenade and a lighthouse.
The map shows both halves and the valley that links them. The inland village is a dense cluster of short, winding lanes that follow the slope. The coast has longer streets running parallel to the beach. Between them, a road climbs through terraced farmland.
