Tuzla Map Poster & Print
Tuzla takes its name from the Turkish word for salt, and salt has shaped the city for centuries. Extraction of brine from beneath the centre caused parts of the old town to subside, and the city has since worked to stabilise and restore its historic core. Today it is one of the largest cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the centre of Tuzla Canton.
The most unusual feature on the map is the group of Pannonian Lakes, artificial saltwater lakes close to the centre, fed by the same underground deposits.
