Ushitsu is the central district of Noto town in Ishikawa Prefecture, on the eastern side of the Noto Peninsula. From above, it is a compact coastal settlement. Streets pack onto the flat land between the shoreline and the low hills behind, and a sheltered harbour and waterfront shape the town's edge along Toyama Bay.
This inner coast of Noto is gentler than the rugged outer shore facing the open Sea of Japan. Nearby bays form deep, intricate inlets, and small fishing communities, rice fields and forested slopes alternate along the coast.
