Vushtrri lies in the north of Kosovo, in the broad valley of the Sitnica River, between Mitrovica and Prishtina. The land here is mostly flat and agricultural, so the town has spread fairly evenly outward. At the heart of the town stands the stone tower of the old fortress, one of the best-known historic structures in the region.
