Yasugi lies in the east of Shimane Prefecture, on the southern shore of Lake Nakaumi, a large brackish lagoon connected to the Sea of Japan. The map shows a town squeezed between water and hills: the built-up area follows the lakeshore and the railway line, while rice fields and wooded slopes rise to the south.
