Zayed City, also known as Madinat Zayed, is the main town of the Al Dhafra region in the western part of Abu Dhabi emirate. It is a planned town, and on the map its streets form an orderly pattern of blocks, roundabouts and wide avenues. All around it is open desert, crossed only by a few long, straight highways that connect it to the coast and the oases.
The town is best known for hosting the Al Dhafra Festival, a large traditional event with camel beauty contests and races, date competitions and heritage markets.
