Zhangfeng sits in the far west of Yunnan, in Longchuan County of the Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, only a short distance from the border with Myanmar. On a map the town is a tight cluster of streets laid on level ground, with open farmland around it and ridges rising in the distance.
