Agua Dulce Map Poster & Print
Agua Dulce lies in the far southeast of Veracruz, close to the border with Tabasco and a short distance inland from the Gulf of Mexico. The land here is low and flat, crossed by rivers and patched with wetlands and lagoons, and the town sits on this coastal plain as a compact grid of streets surrounded by water, pasture and marsh.
The area belongs to one of Mexico's main oil-producing regions, and Agua Dulce developed alongside petroleum activity in the wider Coatzacoalcos area. Pipelines, access roads and industrial sites mark the surrounding landscape, while the town itself keeps a regular pattern of blocks around its center, in the manner of many Mexican towns.
The Tonalá River, which forms the border between Veracruz and Tabasco, runs through the surrounding region toward the Gulf. An Agua Dulce map poster brings together the orderly street grid and the soft, irregular forms of rivers and wetlands, a contrast that is easy to read in black and white.

Coastal wetlands
Low marshes, lagoons and waterways surround the town, their irregular outlines creating a soft, organic frame around the built-up area.
Tonalá River
The river that divides Veracruz from Tabasco runs through the region toward the Gulf of Mexico, a winding line that places Agua Dulce at the edge of two states.
