Northern stelae field
The ancient granite stelae stand together on open ground at the edge of the centre. On the map this shows as a clear break in the streets, a reminder that the town grew around its monuments.

Aksum Map Poster & Print
Aksum lies on a plateau in northern Ethiopia, more than two thousand metres above sea level, with bare hills rising directly behind the town. From above, the street pattern is modest and irregular. A main road runs through the centre, lanes branch off between compounds, and open ground left by excavations and archaeological zones creates gaps in the built-up area.
Those gaps are where the town's significance lies. Aksum was the capital of the Aksumite Kingdom, a trading power of the first millennium, and its carved granite stelae still stand in the northern stelae field. Nearby, in a walled precinct, is the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion, which Ethiopian Orthodox tradition holds to house the Ark of the Covenant. UNESCO lists the archaeological sites.
An Aksum map poster renders the place with restraint: a small street network, the edges of the historic precincts, and the old reservoir near the stelae field that tradition links to the Queen of Sheba. The layout is quiet, but the ground beneath it holds centuries of use, and simple lines suit a place like that.

Cathedral precinct
The walled enclosure of Our Lady Mary of Zion forms a distinct block near the stelae. Its geometry stands apart from the looser pattern of lanes and houses around it.
Hills behind the town
Rocky hills rise right above Aksum, and roads bend around their base. The streets thin out as the slope steepens, which gives the poster a natural upper boundary.

ඇයි Aksum
අර්ථයක් ඇති සිතියමක්
For Ethiopians at home and abroad, Aksum carries religious and historical weight that few towns can match. Travellers who have stood among the stelae often want something quieter than a photograph to remember it by. A map keeps the whole place in view at once.
Add your own title, a subtitle such as the year of a journey or a family line, and a coordinates line. The design comes in Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. You can buy it as a $9 set of HD files in six sizes or as a printed poster on matte paper.
