Town canals
Straight canals run through the centre alongside the streets, so the old commercial core reads as a set of parallel lines where waterways and roads mirror each other.

Alappuzha Map Poster & Print
Alappuzha sits on a narrow strip of land in central Kerala, with the Arabian Sea on the west and the backwaters of Vembanad Lake spreading east. From above, the town looks like a grid laid across water. Straight canals cut through the centre, and the streets run beside them, so roads and waterways trace the same lines. The canals are the reason early travellers compared the town to Venice.
East of the centre, the map breaks up into a patchwork of paddy fields, narrow bunds and winding channels. Here land and water share the space almost equally. Punnamada Lake, where the Nehru Trophy Boat Race brings long snake boats onto the water every August, opens as a smooth blank shape at the northern edge. Houseboats glide along these routes, but on paper they leave only the fine lines of their channels.
On the seaward side, a long straight beach runs parallel to the town, and the remains of an old pier point out into the water near the lighthouse. An Alappuzha map poster captures that contrast in monochrome: a firm, ruled coastline on one side and a loose web of water on the other, with the town's canal grid holding the two together.

Backwater fringe
To the east, paddy fields, bunds and meandering channels break the land into small irregular pieces that fade into the open water of Vembanad Lake.
Punnamada Lake
The lake at the northern edge hosts the annual Nehru Trophy Boat Race, and on the map it opens as a calm pale surface beside the dense grid.

People who have drifted through the backwaters on a houseboat, or grew up beside these canals, tend to remember Alappuzha as a place where water shaped every journey. On a poster, that network of channels becomes a quiet, detailed pattern that still carries the memory of slow afternoons on the lake.
You can set your own title and subtitle, perhaps a family name or the year of a visit, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the $9 HD files or order a matte print, with a wooden frame if you like.
