The western shoreline
The town runs along the sheltered side of the island. That makes the coastline the strongest line on the map, with streets roughly parallel to the water.

Ambodifotatra Map Poster & Print
Ambodifotatra is the main town of Île Sainte-Marie, the long, narrow island known in Malagasy as Nosy Boraha, off Madagascar's northeast coast. On a map the town is a strip rather than a grid. Its streets follow the western shoreline, which faces the channel separating the island from the mainland, and the built area thins out quickly into the green interior behind it.
The island is best known for its past as a base for pirates in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, and a pirate cemetery lies on the bay near the town. Today visitors come mostly for the reef-fringed coast and for the humpback whales that pass through the channel in the southern winter. On paper, the shoreline and the small bay carry most of the drawing.
A Ambodifotatra map poster works as a study in balance. Along one edge sits a dense stripe of lanes and waterfront plots, and on the other lies the wide, empty sea. The islets and the curve of the harbour break up that long coastline. Kept in black and white, the composition reads as quiet and spare, much like the island itself.

Bay and islets
A small bay near the town holds low islets. They appear as clean white shapes against the sea and give the lower part of the poster a focal point.
The channel
Open water between Île Sainte-Marie and mainland Madagascar fills a large part of the frame. That leaves generous negative space around the settlement.

The poster is often chosen by people who travelled to Sainte-Marie for the whales or the reefs, or who have family ties to the island. The long coastline makes a calm, horizontal image that suits a hallway or a bedroom wall.
You can add your own title, a subtitle such as a travel date, and the coordinates line. You can also choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The poster is available as a $9 set of HD files in six sizes, or printed on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
