Amherst Map Poster & Print
Amherst is a large town in Erie County, New York, spreading north-east from the Buffalo city line across flat, open ground. On a map it looks like a wide patchwork of residential subdivisions, curving cul-de-sacs, commercial strips and parks. Long straight roads such as the main east–west routes hold it together.
Water defines many of its edges. Ellicott Creek winds through the town, and Tonawanda Creek, which carries the Erie Canal here, forms the northern boundary. Near the middle sits the University at Buffalo's North Campus. It is laid out as a distinct cluster of large buildings, ring roads and a campus lake. The historic village of Williamsville lies to the south-east.
An Amherst map poster shows suburban America at its clearest. The winding streets of the subdivisions sit inside a grid of main roads, and the creeks add slow natural curves. It is a detailed, even composition that fits comfortably at larger sizes.

Erie Canal edge
To the north, the canal follows Tonawanda Creek along the town boundary. It draws a long, gently curving line across the top of the map.
Ellicott Creek
The creek meanders through the town past parks and neighbourhoods. It gives the flat grid of roads a relaxed, winding counterpoint.
