Ayorou Map Poster & Print
Ayorou lies on the Niger River in the Tillabéri Region of western Niger, not far from the border with Mali. From above, the town sits close to the riverbank, and the Niger dominates the map here: a broad channel broken by islands and side branches, with seasonal floodplains spreading out across the flat Sahelian landscape.
The town is known for its weekly market, which draws traders and herders from the surrounding region, as well as for the river wildlife, including hippos, that can be seen nearby. Around the town, roads and tracks run across dry, open country, contrasting with the fertile strips along the water.
An Ayorou map poster captures the relationship between settlement, river and desert edge. In black and white, the river's branching channels and islands form a strong organic shape, and the town's streets appear as a compact cluster beside them. It is a clear portrait of a place whose life has always followed the Niger.

River islands

Market town
Ayorou's streets gather close to the river, where the weekly market brings people from the wider region into the centre of town.
