Irrigation grid
Straight canals and drains divide the paddy land into long, even rectangles. It's the most distinctive pattern in the area, and it looks especially sharp in the Blueprint style.

Bagan Serai Map Poster & Print
Bagan Serai is in the Kerian district of northwest Perak, one of the main rice-growing areas on Malaysia's west coast. From above, the town is a small cluster of streets in a very large field of paddy. Almost everything around it is flat, and the land is divided by the straight lines of drains, bunds and farm roads.
Those lines are the main feature on the map. The Kerian area has been irrigated for more than a century, and the channels and plots make an even grid that stretches in every direction from the town. The streets of Bagan Serai are more irregular, and they gather along the main road and the older shophouse rows.
A Bagan Serai map poster shows a landscape that works almost like a technical drawing: a working farm district with a small market town at its centre. For anyone with roots in Kerian, the pattern of fields will be familiar from the road, the train, or the view from a relative's house.

Town centre
The older commercial streets form a dense knot where the main roads meet. It stands out against the open fields all around it.
Rural roads
Narrow farm roads follow the field edges from the town into the countryside. They connect Bagan Serai to the villages around it.

This is a good print for someone from Kerian or anyone who spent school holidays among Perak's rice fields. It's simple enough for a small wall and detailed enough to find a family home on it.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a kampung name or the year someone moved away. Then pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
