Main street core
The older centre follows a main street lined with closely spaced buildings. Short side roads branch off at regular intervals and form the densest part of the map.

Bellshill Map Poster & Print
Bellshill is a town in North Lanarkshire, a few miles east of Glasgow. From above, it's a dense mix of older main-street terraces and later housing estates. Curving cul-de-sacs sit next to straighter Victorian rows, and railway lines and major roads pass along its edges.
The town grew with coal mining and heavy industry, and in the late nineteenth century it drew a notable community of Lithuanian workers. Today it's known in football circles too: Sir Matt Busby was born in the Orbiston area, and the town has produced several other well-known players.
A Bellshill map poster shows those layers of growth side by side. The tight grid near the centre, the looping estate roads and the transport corridors each have a different texture. Together they make a map that's busier and more varied than the town's size might suggest.

Estate curves
Post-war and later housing adds loops, crescents and cul-de-sacs. Their rounded forms contrast with the straighter lines of the historic streets.
Transport corridors
Railway lines and main roads run along and through the town. They are the strongest continuous lines on the print and tie Bellshill to Glasgow and Lanarkshire.
