Bryanka Map Poster & Print
Bryanka is a town in Luhansk oblast, in the Donbas coal basin of eastern Ukraine. On the map, the built-up area is fragmented rather than centred. Clusters of streets grew up around individual mines, and they are linked by roads and rail lines across open steppe. Here and there, the rounded shapes of old spoil heaps interrupt the pattern.
Like many towns in the region, Bryanka developed alongside coal extraction in the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Its layout still shows that history. Workers' districts are laid out in regular blocks, industrial sites and rail spurs sit between them, and small river valleys and ravines cross the gently rising land.
A Bryanka map poster records an industrial landscape in quiet lines. The separate settlements, the threads of railway and the soft relief of the steppe make a composition that is spread out and full of character. For people from here, it is a way to keep the shape of home close, drawn simply and without commentary.

Rail lines
Railway tracks and sidings curve between the districts and industrial areas. They draw long, smooth lines that connect the different parts of the town.
Steppe and ravines
Open ground and shallow valleys separate the built-up areas. They give the poster wide light spaces and a sense of the rolling Donbas terrain.
