Central grid
The historic core is laid out in regular blocks around the main square. The pattern reads crisply in black and white and gives the poster a strong, stable centre.

Calpulalpan Map Poster & Print
Calpulalpan lies at the western tip of the state of Tlaxcala, close to the border with the State of Mexico and well over two thousand metres above sea level. From above, its centre follows the orderly grid found in many Mexican towns. Blocks are arranged around a central plaza and church, and streets run out toward the surrounding fields.
The land around the town is broad and gently rolling. It is part of the high plains long associated with growing maguey and making pulque, and several old haciendas in the wider area recall that trade. On a map the farmland shows up as quiet space crossed by long, straight roads, which makes the dense town centre stand out sharply.
A Calpulalpan map poster captures the contrast between the compact grid and the open country beyond it. Main avenues are drawn with a heavier line and residential streets with a finer one, while the edges of town fray into rural lanes. The result is calm and easy to read, a clear record of a highland market town.

Pulque country
The surrounding plains were historically known for maguey and pulque. On the map they appear as wide open ground, crossed only by field roads and the occasional hacienda track.
Roads to the plains
Highways and rural roads leave the town in long straight lines, linking it with neighbouring towns in Tlaxcala and the State of Mexico and giving the composition a sense of direction.
